The mission

An A+ solution for A-Station

Arsenal Square is one of the most visited squares in the Ukrainian capital and is located between the Mariinskyi Palace – the official ceremonial residence of the President – and the National Art and Culture Museum, not far from the banks of the Dnieper river. As part of the square's redesign, which included the renovation of historic buildings such as the former military commandant's office and St Nicholas Gate, it was decided that the forecourt should feature a special attraction to enchant and entertain people visiting the surrounding shops, restaurants and bars. Investors wanted a spectacular musical fountain for regular evening shows in the square, which would be renamed "A-Station".

OASE developed a compelling concept for the notable central square and at the same time impressed with a technological world first: The first OASE splash deck fountain system in Ukraine, exclusively equipped with VarioJet nozzles. These nozzles, in conjunction with Varionaut pumps, enable fast-changing, dynamic and variable water patterns to accompany any kind of music to great effect. OASE didn't forget about the square's younger visitors either, integrating smaller water effects, such as medusas and vases, which are specially designed so they can be activated by children. This ensured that kids could also have fun even when the shows weren't running. The concept excited investors, and OASE was commissioned to design shows and choreographies, taking over production.

The successes

Guest of honour inaugurates fountain

On 1 September 2021, at 20.00 local time, the new music and show fountain in Arsenal Square was inaugurated by a real heavyweight: Vitali Klitschko. The mayor of Kiev and former world heavyweight champion boxer did the honours by opening the new attraction in person. A breathtaking choreography of dynamic light and fountain effects to the sounds of Karl Jenkins' "Palladio" amazed the thousands of spectators. The event also included performances by piano virtuoso Evgeny Khmara and opera singers as well as a 3D projection on St Nicholas Gate. It was an unforgettable evening for all those involved, full of excitement and ambience.
